Prof. Salami emerges new OAU Vice Chancellor

According to reports, the Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has approved the appointment of Prof. Ayobami Taofeek Salami as the new Vice Chancellor, VC, of the institution.

He succeeds Professor Bamitale Omole whose tenure ends on June 23, 2016.

The Council took the decision at its meeting on Monday evening after a long deliberation on the issues halting the appointment of a new helmsman, who had been the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics.

The university’s highest decision body had shortlisted six candidates for the post, out of whom only three, including Salami, reportedly participated in the appointment interview.

Salami is a former Director, Institute of Ecology in the institution.

    Next in line is the Vice Chancellor of Uniport.

  3. Congrats. Those NASU are being used. Mumu that they are, that does not know how the university operates. It can only happen in the ancient and Local university like Ife. Congratulations any way .Wishing you successful tenure.
