The Abia state police command have launched a manhunt for a final year student of Abia State Polytechnic identified as Abel, who allegedly killed his landlord during a dispute in Aba, Abia State.
Abel, who is a student of the Department of Architecture, allegedly stabbed his landlord in the stomach during a dispute at the lodge, PUNCH reports. The landlord had reportedly given an order that no female visitor is allowed to spend the night in the male lodge, however the suspect had breached the rule and was challenged by the landlord, which led to a fight between them.
It was during their altercation that the suspect was alleged to have grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene. A student of the institution disclosed that the landlord had barged into the student’s room after the caretaker alerted him that a female student was spending the night at the lodge. He reportedly met Abel and his girlfriend naked in bed and confronted him in what would be his last quarrel.
The incident was reported to the police station, who have now declared the suspect wanted, posting his picture at strategic areas in the suspect’s school.
The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Nta Ogbonnaya, also confirmed the murder but refused to state what exactly transpired between the suspect and the deceased. He revealed that the case file has been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigations, adding that the police would get the fugitive.
“I want to advise the suspect to submit himself to the police voluntarily. I assure that wherever he decides to go, we will get him and he will face justice” he stated.
