Renewed cult clashes in Agbor and its environs in Ika Local Government Area of Delta State, on Thursday, cut short the lives of two young men (names withheld) with a call by residents for the state police command to arrest the worsening security situation.
Sources said that the two persons were gunned down by rival cult groups in the early hours of Thursday, leading to the fear and apprehension in the metropolis.
It would be recalled that the recent incident was the first in almost a year of sustained peace within Boji-Boji Agbor town and the people
are at present scared that except urgent steps are taken, the fragile peace being enjoyed in the area might be broken down.
A cross section of the residents who spoke to our reporter, however appealed that security be enhanced to prevent the return of the days of cult related killings in the community and unhealthy rivalries that crippled economic activities in times past.
Most residents recalled that outside the cult killings, the need to stem the increasing cases of robbery in the community should be addressed and more policemen be deployed to the town so that the people can sleep with their two eyes closed.
But the police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said normalcy has returned to the community, adding that more policemen were drafted to the areas to maintain law and order.
