Ijaw monarchs, leaders meet in Warri over renewed militancy in Niger Delta

Prominent Ijaw leaders, including traditional rulers, are presently meeting at the Warri residence of Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, to discuss renewed militancy in the Niger Delta region.

Ijaw leaders from Bayelsa, Edo, Rivers, Ondo, Delta and Cross River States are taking part in the emergency meeting.

The governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Henry Seriake Dickson and the deputy governor of Delta state were still being expected at the meeting.

Source said that the meeting would discussed present happenings in the region and states of affairs in the country.

Chief Clark, who is the convener of the emergency meeting, will also chair the event.

  1. The Adedibu of Niger Delta want to call his boys to order.Like Adedibu,Edwin Clarke is the problem and he is the solution.
    He has now realised the Buhari is not ready to settle any body.Let them keep on destroying their environment and future.

  2. The meeting should express the collective will of the Ijaw people, namely, political and economic autonomy as the minimum demand for being part of Nigeria. Otherwise Nigeria should get on with building the Arewa-Yoruba nation-hold without the Ijaw Nation.

  3. I come from the Niger Delta . This is a plea.
    It is a pity that what has already been developed in the Niger Delta is being destroyed by the hands of the very people who own the land. At the end we will be left with nothing. Big companies have left Warri and the place looks so desolate, business is bad because of their exit from the city. Can we not learn from all this? Please, in the name of God, violence is not the answer.
