Spanish striker Lucas Perez has arrived at Heathrow Airport ahead of his impending Arsenal transfer.
The 27-year-old Deportivo La Coruna forward, who is on the cusp of completing his £17million transfer to join Arsene Wenger’s side, landed in London to add the finishing touches to the move.
It was revealed that Arsenal had agreed a deal with Deportivo earlier this week after the Gunners met the Spaniard’s release clause but continued to haggle over the preferred payment method – Arsenal initially wanting to pay the fee in two sums.
Entering the peak years of his career, Perez enjoyed his finest season to date last term, scoring 17 goals in 36 league appearances as Deportivo managed to successfully avoid relegation.
Arsene Wenger has already confirmed that transfers for both Perez and German international Shkodran Mustafi were on the verge of being complete.
‘We have bought two players Mustafi and Perez. They will integrate into the team now and we will help them join the squad,’ Wenger told Sky Sports.
‘We had to work very hard to get signings done. We have not got any plans for anyone else now.’
Having been left out of the most recent Spain squad, Perez was spotted landing at Heathrow Airport as he makes his way to north London.
Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Mustafi said: ‘They are an internationally represented club and it was important for me to be able to make a step forward in my career.
‘I want to play in the Champions League again and with players who I can learn from. The stars at Arsenal have achieved so much and will be able to teach me a few things.’
