The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who are currently in financial crisis, had reportedly made it clear there would be no win bonus for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Tanzania. The NFF only assure players based in Europe a refund of their return tickets.

However, after Governor Emmanuel Udom rewarded the team with N10million, top NFF officials intercepted the money and used it to cover camp allowances.

“I can tell you that the players did not find this funny. They expected that the Governor’s cash gift will not have anything with their camp allowances, which is $200-a-man a day,” a team source disclosed.

“The NFF need to live up their responsibilities rather than continue to depend on handouts.”

  11. NFF are thieves. If the Akwa Ibom state had not given the money, so they had nothing to give the players. When Players refuses to honor national call, they will shout patriotism. Are these patriotic acts. Very dubious people. Is Buhari not seeing these corrupt acts? Funny enough, should government get involved in these matters, FIFA will come in to say, “Government is interfering in Foot ball Administration” what is fifa doing on hearing these ridiculous stories of the so call independent NFF body who cannot raise money for even a school team match. Even where sponsors give money, they will squander the money. Everything in Nigeria is crumbling.
