As NAHCON begins airlift of Nigerian pilgrims back home after the completion of this year’s Holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, two of the pilgrims from Kebbi State have been reported dead in Mecca.
The state publicity secretary on 2016 Hajj Exercise, Alhaji Aliyu Jajirma Kanya, confirmed this. He said the two pilgrims died following a brief illness.
Kanya further explained that the dead pilgrims who were from Maiyama and Augie local government areas of the state had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
The wife of Kebbi State governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, is currently in Mecca to condole with their families as well as the people of Kebbi State over their death.
“She described their death in Mecca as a favour and happiness to their families, praying Allah to forgive them of their sins,” he said.
He added that Dr Zainab has commended kebbi state pilgrims for conducting themselves in the holy land while urging them to pray for the present administration in the state and at the national level to put both the state and the country’s economy in proper shape.
