It was gathered that the Nigerian Customs Service says it has destroyed 200 cartons of imported frozen poultry products valued at N1.6 million in Benin.
The Sector Commander of the Customs Controller General’s Compliance Team, Zone C, Madu Abubakar, said in a statement on Thursday that the banned items were conveyed into the state capital via a bus with registration no. LSR 312 XA and seized by his men.
Abubakar said: “The imported frozen poultry products have a duty of N320,000 and duty paid value of N1,920,000.
“The items were seized on Tuesday along Benin-Ekaidolor Expressway at about 1.40pm.”
He said the items had been destroyed in compliance with the Federal Government’s policy on importation of frozen products.
