He called on the restive youths to halt all attacks on oil installations to pave way for meaningful dialogue.

The statement read: “We have noticed with concern the current activities of our Niger Delta youths who have resorted to using violent methods in pressing for our emancipation as a people.

“As much as we agree that the issues being agitated for are salient and we identify with the genuine agitations of our brothers, we however condemn in totality the ongoing vandalization and bombing of oil facilities, as we believe that this is akin to shooting ourselves in the foot as these activities are counterproductive.’’

“Already our economy is in dire need of revitalization and all available resources should be put to use in reviving it. We Niger Deltans are a tranquil and advanced people so we implore our brothers to resort to dialogue in our demand for equity.

“Collective good for all can only be achieved through the subjugation of our individual interest and the propagation of positive general ideas and polices geared towards holistic and overall development. Antagonism and aggression only aids in further eroding our sensibilities and cohesion as an indivisible entity.”

On the issue of environmental pollution and degradation, the group expressed gratitude’s to the President for setting up of the Board for the cleanup of Ogoni land in Rivers State and urged him to prevail on the oil companies operating the area to embark on full remediation work and total cleaning of the entire Niger Delta.

The group also appealed to the Federal government to revitalize the Delta Steel Company at Aladja as well as the Olokola liquefied natural gas project in Ondo state and the abandoned Brass LNG project.

”We wish to appreciate the president for appointing our illustrious sons Senator Ndoma Egba, Board Chairman, Obong Insima Ekere as the MD/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission and noted with pride the giant stride of the Minister for Transport Hon Rotimi Amechi for given the Niger Delta effective representation ant the Federal level.

“We commend President Muhammadu Buhari on his administrative strategy principally anchored on the fight against corruption and massive looting of Nigeria wealth by some political office holders and also lauded his effort in redirecting the economy toward agriculture.

‘’We applaud his systematic war against corruption and pledged our unalloyed loyalty and support to his anti corruption war and join him in the crusade because if he fails we all fail,” the statement added.
