Musa, who joined the Foxes from CSKA Moscow in a £16 million summer deal, said his success did not mean he would forget his roots.

“The people back home have been so nice to me, so I want to give something back to them,” the 23-year-old said.

“When I go back home in the future I can train with the children and feel very happy.”

Musa is overseeing the building of a sports centre in Hotoro, reflecting his own start in the game at the Aminchi Football Academy as a schoolboy.

He said he had been persuaded to move to the Premier League by compatriot Nwankwo Kanu, who starred in the division for Arsenal.

“Kanu is like a role model for me,” he said. “I got to know him when I started playing in the national team.

“I spoke to him before I came to Leicester. I was in Russia and he called me, because he always advises me what to do. He told me that I would enjoy it in the Premier League and England, that it was a nice place.”

Musa said he knew he would need time to adapt to the English game, having made two starts for the champions so far, but said he was looking forward to testing his pace against teammate Jamie Vardy.

“We haven’t tried yet, so I can’t say now who is the quickest. But I tell you this — we’re going to have a race one day,” he said.
