West Ham United splash 35,000 pounds on Anambra FA

The London based side has strengthened their partnership with FC IfeanyiUbah with a cash donation to the Anambra FA and Okongwu Memorial Grammar School.

English Premier league side West Ham United  have donated a sum of 30,000 pounds to the Anambra Football Association while also handling 5,000 pounds to the alma mater of  the chairman of the state FA and the owner of NPFL side, FC IfeanyiUbah, Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi.

Making the donation on behalf of the Hammers in Nnewi on Thursday, the Managing Director of the EPL side, Angus Kinnear told the large crowd that West Ham were thrilled to have their first African partnership with FC IfeanyiUbah and that the pact would be for a very long time.

He said the London club was moved by the philanthropic gesture of Ubah and that West Ham  have in store so many things that would make FC IfeanyiUbah Academy and the main club in the elite division to be stronger in Nigeria and Africa and expressed surprise at the achievement of the Anambra Warriors who placed fourth on the log of the NPFL despite only being set up last year.

“We are proud to associate with FC IfeanyiUbah which is our first football partnership in Africa. We are thrilled by the achievement of the club in the Nigerian league and the support of the club President Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. We are hoping that the partnership will be for a long time and that the academy would produce players that will play up to the highest level,” Kinnear told the media in a brief chat.

The owner of the Nnewi side and the chairman of the Anambra FA, Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah thanked West Ham United for the gesture while also stressing that he won’t relent in his effort to continue to bring smiles to the faces of the down trodden.

He also made a donation of N1,000,000 to Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi and also promised to renovate the school’s dilapidated building and the field.

Former Super Eagles’ captain Kanu Nwankwo, his brother, Ogbonna, ex-Falcons goalkeeper, Ann Chiejine and some Nollywood stars like John Okafor among other dignitaries graced the occasion.
