Kogi government begins probe of Idris, Wada’s tenures, inaugurates c’ttee

It was gathered that the Kogi State government has commenced a probe of the administrations of former governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, with a view to unravel how funds accrued to the state were spent between 2003 and January 2016.


Inaugurating the judicial commission of inquiry in Lokoja, yesterday, the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, enjoined members of the Commission headed by Justice Wada Umar Rano to ensure a thorough job.

The governor said he hoped that at the end of the exercise, Kogi State would not be the same again.

Members of the Commission include Justice Wada Umar Rano, Chairman; Dr Mohammed Aboki; Barr Ameh Franklin Adejo; Maj-Gen H G Aminu (rtd); Prof Angela O Okatayi; Chief JO Ajewale; Mrs Fatima Ojochenemi Audu and Barr Ajinomo Ipimida as the secretary; J B Daudu is to serve as counsel to the Commission.

Governor Bello stressed that the state must be toe the path of development, as he urged the Commission, which has three months duration, to help in not just finding who stole what money, but also chart a course for the development of the state.

“Kogi is ranked very low in development, lack of infrastructure and the position of Kogi State today informed the government decision to constitute judicial inquiry under Section 2 Cap 25 of Northern Nigeria laws.
