Before the start of the season, Mourinho claimed that there was no place for Rooney in United’s midfield, but Giggs believes his former team-mate should not be restricted to just one position.

‘I see a player who’s going through a transitional period, I went through it when I was 29 or 30, where I was a winger and I couldn’t knock it around a defender and get it the other side,’ Giggs told ITV.

‘I feel a little bit sorry for him, towards last season and for England in the summer he was played in that deeper role, then he was told he’s playing as a No.9 or a No.10 [by Mourinho], he’s probably a bit confused.

‘The only way he can get it back is on the training pitch.

‘I don’t see him playing in a specific position, he’s got the talent to play so many positions, and the experience.’

    • What has Morinho done?. Morinho is a talkative, he has nothing in his brain again. Check the statistics of last year to present, m.united ws in beta position. Jose is living in past glory, has nothing to offer again. The luck in is side has ended. Many teams ll beat United like mad, just watch and see. The only solution is to sack him before it’s too late. Anyway, I trust M.united boards, they don’t accommodate nonsense, unlike arsenal.
