The South-south Zonal Head of the EFCC, Ishaq Salihu, made the disclosure to journalists on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

He said those found wanting after the investigation would be charged appropriately.

Mr Salihu revealed that at least 50% of the one billion Naira recovered so far in the last 10 months was from politicians.

He added that among those that have been nabbed was an internet fraudster who defrauded Europeans and Americans, posing as the former Chairman of the agency, Ibrahim Larmode.

The EFCC zonal head also informed reporters of the case of a school certificate holder who had practiced for years as a senior lawyer.

  4. O yes! We had the worst set of Governors who looted the treasures and did nothing good to improve the living standard of the people. They were busy buying titles and winning man of this, man of that and left states in stagnation without real development. See Delta and Bayelsa which ought to be like Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States, nothing to show for it. There is no City that can be pointed to as developed in the real sense after Oghara of Ibori era, which happened to be a little place. But for now, the local government with the numbers of idle workers, cannot sweep that town and keep the dual carriage roads built by Ibori. Warri and Asaba are not as beautiful as Ikorodu an outskirt in Lagos State. Shame. Yenagoa ought to be a masterpiece, but look at its waterfront, a mess. Once known a the single road state, after many years and trillions spent, only small part of that city has real roads. Now, no more to share. After 20years of accrued oil money, the state cannot boast of a road like Victoria Island to Epe, and express built by Otedola and Jakande governments to link the three Senatorial district headquarters. But roads like that turned a deep mangrove and rafia palms swamps into paradise Examples, roads liking Iba to Ikotun, Isolo to Mile 2 via Agoh Palace way, etc. The original lonely roads are now adored with beautiful houses all over these former rivers. Sand filling started left and right. Estates development continued until there is no swamps or rivers. The Present day Lekki Peninsula, one of the most prestigious places to live in Lagos was once more swampy than Yenegoa. But road development encouraged developers to build what it is now. But for our Governors, it is an impossible task with mediocre all around them seeing nothing farther than their noses. Worse, person they feel are more knowledgeable than them should be kept away in poles length; so they remained in their ignorance, marry Ibo women and build/buy house for them, and some get duped after all the money and houses bought for these ladies. Whereas, go to Lagos, they assimilate people they find knowledgeable, use or tap from them, no matter where they come, and go on increasing the collective wealth which they claim to themselves. Probe them, we deserve it.
