Nnaji noted that releasing the promotion would motivate and empower teachers for greater productivity.

Nnaji said: “We are appealing to the state government to direct Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board and Post Primary School Management Board to release all outstanding promotions of teachers in Enugu state.

“The last promotion was released for secondary and primary school teachers in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

“Lack of promotion has posed serious setback as the affected teachers cannot be at par with their colleagues in the ministry and other work places.

“Some of them have either passed on or retired without promotion.”

The chairman noted that the non-release of the promotion had also affected the pension and gratuity of the affected teachers.

He said: “We, therefore, call on the state government to release promotions without further delay especially as it concerns deserving teachers in the employment of the PPSMB.’’

He noted that there is a popular slogan of teachers, which says: “We Teach You; Don’t Cheat Us”.
