No pronouncement yet on reduction in graduates’ mobilisation – NYSC

It was gathered that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted the claim that it had concluded plans to reduce the number of graduates to be mobilised for the 2016 batch ‘B’ orientation course by 67 per cent.

It said the information flying around on the social media about the development was not the position of the scheme, insisting that no pronouncement has yet been made on the matter.

In an interview yesterday, the Public Relations Officer ofCorps, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, explained that stakeholders are still appraising the situation and that when conclusions were reached, official pronouncement will be made.

She said; “There is no pronouncement on this matter yet because stakeholders including the members of the National Assembly are still reviewing the situation.

“Once we are through, the Director-General will address the media on the correct position.”

News had circulated during the week that NYSC had communicated the higher institutions to mobilise only about 33 per cent of their usual quotas for the Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course apparently due to the economic situation.
