DSS arrested me because of Tinubu, Dasuki, Malami, Kanu – Justice Ademola

Adeniyi Ademola, one of the judges of the Federal High Court, arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, last weekend, has said he was being tried for granting bail to ex-NSA, Sambo Dasuki and ruling that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, be freed.

In a letter dated October 11, addressed to Mahmoud Mohammed, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ademola said he was held for over 24 hours before he was told the reason why he was brought to the DSS office.

“…Upon signing the document, they told me that I am under arrest and ordered me with guns still pointed at me to move outside. As I was going, they told me they were taking me to their office, Department of State Services (DSS) office, without showing any warrant of arrest.

“I obeyed them and about six o’clock in the morning, I was whisked away from my residence to the DSS office without any warrant of arrest or reason for my arrest.

“From the time of my arrival at the DSS office, at about 6:45am on 8/10/2016, I was not told what my crime was for over 24 hours till the evening of 9/10/2016.

“A DSS officiall finally informed me that my arrest were based on these three allegations; petition of Hon. Jenkins Duvie dated 4th of April 2016 to the National Judicial Council (NJC); granting bail to Col. Sambo Dasuki and the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu; and using my office to secure my wife’s appointment as the head of civil service, through Senator Bola Tinubu”, the letter read.

Ademola said he saw his arrest as revenge from Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), whose arrest and detention he ordered over a professional misconduct while he was judge in Kano between 2004 and 2008.

“What is more intriguing in this whole episode, is that I see it as a vendetta/revenge from the Hon. attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami; whilst I was in Kano between 2004 and 2007 as a federal high court judge, he was involved in a professional misconduct necessitating his arrest and detention by my order,” he said.

16 Comments on DSS arrested me because of Tinubu, Dasuki, Malami, Kanu – Justice Ademola

  1. So much drama in Nigeria

  2. Eyaah sorry for that

  3. If the DSS could give the reasons as adduced by the judge for his arrest and the presidency is defending the DSS. That the Anthony general is in vendetta mission, ah! who will now tell me that Buhari is in charge.

  4. When will Nigerian lawyers will stop lying? the arrested is pathological liar DSS did not tell him like that

  5. You see why some of us said the arrest is. Wrong .
If the DSs were not wrong , what charges did they brought against this man ?
We should stop supporting bad precedent

  6. Can this justice Ademola cut out all these rhetoric and tell us if truly or not he took bribe from any accused
The issue of vendetta or no vendetta is quite irrelevant
It’s a question of “guilty or not guilty”

  7. What about the cash found in his house .

  8. Justice Ademola should go to court if he feels aggrieved, there is no need whipping up sentiments through the media. The main question remains: did he collect money from anyone in order to make decisions in their favor?

  9. Na was o! The country dey go small small o!

  10. This useless judge should be ashamed of himself. If you have any story, go to court. why are you looking for people pity. Are you the only judge? There is an adage that says, the flies are eating the sour of a man, no story, then when the sour man stated eating flies, story started. Don’t look for pity since you did not tell us when you are taking the brides. All the points you raised could be explained when you get to court for your defense while DSS present their own evidence of your corruption. One day for the thief, one day for the owner. After all, you are not the only judge arrested.

  11. OK, let’s say it’s true. Could justice Ademola tell us hw many Acct. He has n hw much in all d Acct. Den I would ready my books.

    • MR Kehinde
Are u a court ? Why should he present his account to you or anyone ? Are we in a law society or banana republic ? If not Vendetta why can’t they charge to court first .?
Where on earth do people first get arrested then start looking for evidence ?
It is a pity that some Nigerians are either very ignorant or just plain stupid

  12. The can of worms is beginning to open up, patience until we see and hear it all

  13. Justice Ademola is just trying to whip up unnecessary sentiment. I want him to answer these questions to Nigerians: was large sum of money found in his house? If yes, why didn’t he bank the monies? The large sum of money found in his accounts, did he declare them as his assets. Finally, if he is sure of himself, let him go to court & proof his innocence!

    • But the DSS was the first to whip up public sentiments, instead of going to the court to state their case against the justices.
Any person being condemned through trial by the media, as the DSS has done in this instance, has the right to go public with his or her own defence too.
So, I don’t blame the Hon. Justice for stating his own case, not through a press conference, but in a letter to the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria!

  14. We read that Ademola called his lawyer when DSS came and the lawyer in seeing the warrant advised him to cooperate. Is he saying now that there was no warrant of arrest? Secondly, is he above the law? If police go to arrest ordinary citizen in this country they do not even take a warrant in most cases and when they get to court this issue is not even raised by a lawyer nor does the judge even ask this on behalf of the accused whose right has been violated. So why is he even looking for sympathy? Explain the sources of all the money found in your home and account and all properties own. Your salaried income cannot have been the only source. You come from a comfortable but not overly rich family.
