Speaking , the Rangers of Enugu coach said the sacking of the coach could work both ways for the team.

“It is either positively or negatively. I believe the players will want to impress the new coach,” he said.

“We should be very careful in approaching the game not minding if they have a new coach or not. We must be ready for anything.

“A win in that game will put Nigeria a step closer to playing in Russia. After getting three points on the road, we need to hold our home front very well.

“The most important thing is to continue doing our part and prepare well for the game because we can’t afford to slip.”

Describing the performance of the team after two matches, the coach said the manager of the team, Gernot Rohr, had done enough to instil belief in the players.

He called on Nigerians to believe in the team and continue to support the Super Eagles as they strive to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He added: “It is very important that people believe in this team because the confidence is back for the players.

“That’s what victory brings. After failing to qualify for the last two AFCON in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in 2017, there is need to take the games more seriously.”
