Jose Mourinho passed up the chance to sign N’Golo Kante while he was Chelsea’s manager, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph claims that Chelsea had a scouting file on the 25-year-old following his impressive performances for Boulogne and Caen in the French leagues.
But Mourinho was reportedly targeting midfielders who were taller and ‘more robust’ and decided not to move for Kante, who was subsequently signed by Leicester City for just £5.6 million.

In the 2015 summer transfer window, Mourinho, who had just guided Chelsea to the Premier League title, wanted to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.
Kante, meanwhile, became one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League and played a vital role in Leicester’s shock title success.
The France international was then signed by Antonio Conte for £32 million this summer.
