Herrera hopes Man Utd can park the bus in every big game to become champions

Ander Herrera believes that if Manchester United can replicate their performance against Liverpool in the rest of the big games this season they can be Premier League champions come May.

United and Jose Mourinho were heavily criticised for ‘parking the bus’ against the Reds at Anfield with Herrera picking up the man of the match award from Sky Sports after a disciplined defensive display.

The midfielder was ‘proud’ of his side’s performance and has suggested that they must bring that style of play into every big game for the rest of the campaign.

‘This is the way we have to play big matches,’ said Herrera after the game.

We were better in the first half, but they were better in the second half. David made two fantastic saves but Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] as well had a big chance.

‘For us I think it’s a fair point. Both teams didn’t deserve to lose.

‘We can take a lot of things from this game, but now we have to win matches.

‘We want to be champions. We are Man United and we have win matches.’

United are now seventh in the table after becoming the first team this season to take points off Liverpool at Anfield.

Mourinho’s men are five points off the summit and play Fenerbahce midweek in the Europa League before traveling to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Chelsea.
