It was gathered that the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Adamawa command ,yesterday confirmed the arrest of 20 suspects and seizure of 61.465 kg of hard drugs at Yola abattoir and Jambutu Central motor park.
The state Commandant, Mr. Yakubu Kibo, in an interview in Yola, revealed that the success follow the command’s relentless raid operation carried out to dislodge some major drug abuse joints in the state capital.
He expressed the worry that during the raid, huge packets of Tramadol 250 mg, which if abused has a higher potency was seized.
“The Command, during its relentless raid carried out to dislodge popularly known drug joints that include Yola abattoir and market, Jambutu motor park, Madam street and Falujah market.
”A total of 20 suspected were arrested and seizure of 61.456 Kg of assorted hard drugs such as Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol 250 mg, Diazepam, Rophnol, Cough syrup with codeine and extol-5,” Kibo said.
He said that the command was making all it could to rescue and clear the state from the grip of drugs and other related dealers, who portrayed to be “merchants of destruction and death”.
Kibo, however, called on the government, traditional and religious leaders as well as generality of the indigenes of the state to work together to address the dangers of drugs.
“The Command alone cannot, successfully, win the war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, hence the need for collective efforts.” Kibo appealed.
