The defensive midfielder has trained with Arsenal’s first team but Wenger admits pushing him towards his Premier League debut would be a step too far this season.

‘The plan with him is to continue, he works a lot with the first team, he’s developed very well,’ said Wenger.

‘He has all the attributes to be a great player. But now he’s not ready, experience wise, to play in our team.

‘I will consider the situation at the end of December to see if he can go out somewhere and play, or if we keep him until the end of the season here.’
