Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists he was consulted about the deadline day purchase of David Luiz.
The Brazil international returned to Stamford Bridge in a £32 million deal, little over two years after he was sold to PSG.
Luiz has made a typically erratic start to life back in the Premier League, moments of brilliance punctuated with inconsistent defending, but Conte insists he did, despite several reports to the contrary, sanction a move for the 29-year-old.
‘Never do we take the decisions [alone],’ Conte told reporters. ‘
We take the decisions together with the club. In every situation, we make the decisions together.
‘Never me or the club, always together. I think this is always the right way, you want to build something important for the people.’
Luiz is expected to retain his place in a three-man defence for the visit of Manchester Untied on Sunday, despite the return to full fitness of club skipper John Terry.
