Mourinho sets unwanted Premier League record with Manchester United

Goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante made it an unhappy return for the Portuguese, who was back at Stamford Bridge for the first time since he was sacked last December.

The loss was Mourinho’s heaviest in his Premier League career to date, while only Real Madrid’s 5-0 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou in 2010 prevented it from being his worst ever.

The mauling at Stamford Bridge was also only the second time in Premier League history that a side managed by Mourinho had conceded four or more goals.

The first time that happened to Mourinho was in the 5-3 defeat to Tottenham in January 2015, and Chelsea went on to win the Premier League title that year.
