Buhari’s chief-of-staff faults suspension claim

It was gathered that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, on Friday taunted those who are behind recent online reports that he had been suspended when he resumed for duties at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On his way to the President’s office, Kyari stopped by at the Press Gallery of the Council Chamber and jokingly told reporters he saw that, “go and tweet that I am here.”

On his way back to his office, Kyari repeated the same message.

When some journalists asked him to formally react to the reports of his suspension which were mainly on the social media, Kyari said by virtue of his office, he does not grant press interviews.

When probed further, the Chief of Staff asked, “Can’t I go on leave?”

Kyari had cracked a similar joke with State House correspondents on Tuesday.

There have been reports that Buhari suspended the Chief of Staff over an allegation of bribery levelled against him in connection with the reduction of the fine imposed on a telecommunication firm, MTN Nigeria, by the Nigeria Communication Commission.

  2. Fine imposed on MTN is just outrageous in a corrupt system. Am amazed at the level of insensitivity of the system. What do they think will happen to workers in MTN if that amount wasn’t reduced. MTN will definitely lay off workers cos they are in business to make money. Thank you to the COS to PMB for interceding on the issue if you actually did cos you just saved thousands of jobs.

    • He didn’t do it to save jobs, he did it to take bribe, I strongly believe as a public officer he knew the consequences of taking bribe. He would have helped without taking bribe and that would have made him a hero.
