Former Manchester United and Chelsea forward Radamel Falcao has ended a 2450 day wait to score in the Champions League.
His last goal in the competition came in February 2010, when he hit the back of the net against Arsenal during Porto’s 2-1 win over the Gunners in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
Since then the forward has moved to Atletico Madrid, where he played in the Europa League, to AS Monaco, who weren’t in European competition at the time, and then had two unsuccessful loan spells in the Premier League.
Now back with Monaco, the 30-year-old has finally found his feet again, scoring twice in five Ligue 1 games, and also a brace against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League group stage.
Once prolific in La Liga, the goals against CSKA were a blast from the past, and reminded fans of the player Falcao was before his torrid time in England.
The Colombia international scored just five goals in 36 appearances in the top flight during his campaigns for Manchester United and then Chelsea.
AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim will be hoping that this could be a sign that he is back to his best.
