Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has hinted that he could be in line to start against Tottenham in the north London derby this weekend.
Arsene Wenger revealed that the Gunners had five injury doubts ahead of the Emirates showdown, with Kieran Gibbs, Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott, Hector Bellerin and Monreal all ‘uncertainties’.
However, both Bellerin and Monreal were pictured in training at London Colney on Thursday afternoon which has given fans hope that the full-backs could feature versus Spurs on Sunday.
And, after the training session, Monreal took to Instagram to declare that he’s excited ahead of the much-anticipated clash.
England speedster Walcott has the biggest chance of playing from Wenger’s list of uncertainties after picking up a hamstring problem.
‘There is still some uncertainties over injury because Gibbs has been touched on the shoulder and we don’t know how he’ll respond,’ Wenger said in midweek.
‘There’s also some uncertainty over Cazorla, Monreal and Walcott. The closest to fitness is Walcott but he will have a test today. Monreal will have tests today and tomorrow.
Cazorla has not practised yet. He will try to go out today and we’ll see where we go from there. He’s a doubt.’
“I left Hector behind [for the Ludogorets match] because I was cautious. He could have played. I could have forced the issue, but he should be all right for Sunday.’
