Abati had been granted bail by the commission but was unable to meet the conditions declaring that he had no money.

Abati, who has been in EFCC detention since turning himself in last week Monday, had previously promised to refund N5 million and was granted bail which he was yet to perfect and meet the conditions.

Abati however told the anti-graft body that he has no immediate means of sourcing the amount for which he is being detained.

He was released alongside former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has quizzed the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muiz Banire, in connection with the payment of N500,000 into the account of a judge of the National Industrial Court (NIC).

It was gathered that Banire was interrogated at the Lagos office of the commission after he was summoned, to which he obliged by turning up for questioning, after which he asked to return the following day.
