David Luiz was famously once described by Gary Neville as like a player ‘being controlled by a 10-year-old on a PlayStation’.
But such has been the turnaround in the Chelsea defender’s form since he returned to Stamford Bridge he’s now making his opponents look like Under-11s.
That’s the view of Chelsea legend Pat Nevin after witnessing Chelsea’s 5-0 demolition of Everton on Saturday.
The victory was Chelsea’s fifth Premier League win in a row and saw them extend their run without conceding a goal to the same length.
Nevin was particularly impressed with the Brazilian defender.
‘David Luiz bestrode the match like a world-class footballer playing against an under-11 side,’ said the former Chelsea winger in his column for Chelseafc.com.
Nevin described the performance as ‘right up there with the best 90 minutes I have enjoyed by any Chelsea team in the purest footballing terms’ and poured praise on a number of individuals. Here’s what he said about the following…
Eden Hazard: ‘Showing precisely why it is not silly to ask whether he is capable of consideration alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and Ronaldo.’
Diego Costa: ‘Was colossal.’
