Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists he is happy at the west London club and has distanced himself with rumours linking him with a return to Spain.
The Belgium international was quoted earlier this season as saying he missed the Spanish capital and would consider his future when his current Chelsea contract expires at the end of 2018.
Courtois, who enjoyed a successful three-year loan at Atletico before establishing himself as the club’s No.1 under Jose Mourinho, has gone seven games without conceding for club and country and seemingly, for the moment at least, feels more content with life in west London.
‘I’m happy at Chelsea,’ he said in an interview with The Partidazo COPE. ‘There is no reason not to be happy at Chelsea.
‘I never talked about a possible [Atletico] return. They are rumours coming out of nothing.
‘I never had anything with Real Madrid [either]. I have not seen anything published, but never had any contact with Real Madrid.
‘No one knows what may happen in the future, but now I’m fine.’
