Ban on BRT corridor won’t affect LAGBUS operation – MD

According to reports, the Managing Director of LAGBUS Asset Management has assured commuters in the state that the ban on the Ikorodu BRT won’t affect the operation of the high capacity buses in the state metropolis.

Speaking about the crisis that almost paralysed the state on Monday, the MD of LAGBUS, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, said the ban won’t hinder the operation of the buses, adding that everything would be done to ensure that, staff are not laid off or negatively affected.

“Performance is the key. We anticipate that there may be impact, but we have had and we are having series of engagement with our staff to assure them that they will in no way be ward off or affected by their income,” he said.

He added that the firm has brokered truce and resolved the crisis ignited in the state by Lagos State Government ban of LAGBUS operation along Ikorodu corridor that resulted in civil unrest in the state.

He assured that all the issues raised which ignited the crisis have been resolved, adding that, the staff have no reason to fear over the development.

He said: “Despite the various stakeholders engagement sessions, our bus captains reacted to the directive on the restriction of movement of LAGBUS branded buses on Ikorodu corridor by boycotting work due to security concerns, including potential wrath of passengers and road side miscreants.

“However, having put in place measures to address the concerns raised, normal operations have since resumed. We apologise for any inconveniences that may have been caused to our esteemed customers and wish to reaffirm our commitment to providing quality service to Lagosians.”
