It was gathered that the Governor of Imo State who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, through his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere, has congratulated the immediate past Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, describing him as a true progressive as he bows out after a successful eight-year tenure as the Governor of Edo State.
Prince Madumere made this remark on Saturday while addressing newsmen shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the new Governor of Edo State, Chief Godwin Obaseki, at Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.
He said: “The immediate past Comrade Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole, would be remembered for a long time in the history of the State for coming at a time the State yearned for rescue.
“He did not not just answer the call but delivered on his promises.
“We wish him well while we believe that his wealth of experience will still be much needed in our polity.”
On the newly inaugurated Governor Obaseki, Prince Madumere, while acknowledging that Comrade Oshiomole will be leaving a large shoe size for his successor considering the positive impact he has made on the minds of the people of Edo State, he believes that Obaseki will do well him if his wealth of experience in the business and investment world is anything to go by.
He also established that Obaseki has served at various important committees of government both at the State and National levels.
Speaking further, he said: “Like my leader, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, would always say, the joy of a father is to see his son grow and perform, if possible, better than him.
LWe shall all be praying for him because it is a family of progressives.
“We expect exploits that will continue to make Edo State better with smiles on the people’s faces. I say congratulations to him.”
Madumere therefore called on Edo State people to give Obaseki their support just as they massively supported him during the last election that brought into power as their Governor.
