Serie A giants plot £25m January bid for recently-axed Chelsea star

Chelsea playmaker Oscar is reportedly set to be the subject of a £25million bid from Inter Milan in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Brazil international has barely featured for the Blues in the last two months, having lost his place in Antonio Conte’s line up since the manager’s hugely successful change to a 3-4-3 formation.

Oscar doesn’t have an obvious place in the new-look Chelsea side, with Eden Hazard firmly ahead of him in a number ten role, while Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante are clear favourites for the two central midfield spots.

Inter have come close to signing the 25-year-old in the past, and are prepared to come back in for him again this winter, according to the London Evening Standard.

It is thought that Chelsea will ask for at least £25million for a player they considered letting go in the summer, before Conte had a late change of heart and kept him on.

Oscar has shown glimpses of real talent since moving to Stamford Bridge back in 2012, but his inconsistency and lack of a defined role have seen him struggle to live up to his full potential.

Cesc Fabregas’ future also remains in doubt ahead of January as Chelsea look likely to embark on a mini mid-season clear-out.
