Squawka claim that United have targeted Kane since his breakthrough at Spurs and were willing to offer £50 million for the 23-year-old.

The report claims that Tottenham do not want to sell Kane, whose contract expires in 2020, but talks over an extension on his current deal have stalled.

Kane is currently earning £60,000 a week at White Hart Lane but United would be willing to launch a considerable offer for the England international as they view him as a long-term replacement for Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
