Abia PDP loses treasurer

According to reports reaching ADELOVE, Chief Steve Omoga, Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State has died at the age of 58.


Publicity Secretaryof the party, Chief Don Ubani, confirmed the development in a telephone interview on Thursday.

Late Omoga reportedly slumped after playing lawn tennis at the Umuahia Sports Club on Wednesday evening and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

One version of the report claimed that the deceased died on the way to the hospital, while the other stated that he died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Darlington Madubuko, told NAN he was not aware of the incident.

Paying tribute to the deceased, Ubani said Omoga was an “amiable, loyal party man” and described his death as “painful”.

NAN learnt that the deceased retired as a Director of Finance in the Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, before going into partisan politics
