The arrival of Conte has seen the Belgian playmaker’s return to form benefit Chelsea who are second in the league table after winning the last five games without conceding.

With seven league goals to his name already, Conte heaped praise on Hazard and compared him to one of Europe’s great players.

‘I’m pleased for Eden he is playing fantastic football,’ Conte said in a press conference. ‘He’s working very well in the training session and attitude and commitment.’

Pushed further on the importance of Hazard, Conte was asked if he thinks the winger can be considered at the same level as the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘He is a fantastic player in this moment he’s a great player – he’s working a lot for the team and this is fantastic when someone of this talent believes in the team. It’s great for the team,’ he added.

‘I think we have to go with the team step by step. Eden is showing his talent but it’s not right to compare with other players at this moment – he has the potential to do great things in his career now it’s important that he puts himself in the team and he’s fantastic. That’s the best situation.’
