Adam Lallana’s England injury looks set to keep out him of the next two games after Jurgen Klopp confirmed the Liverpool midfielder would need further time to recover.
The Englishman missed the visit to his old side Southampton on Saturday and was missed as Liverpool failed to make their dominance count against the Saints.
Lallana went off after just 20 minutes against Spain last Tuesday when playing for England and Klopp said the groin problem was set to keep him out for at least another week.
‘Adam Lallana is not in because he picked up an injury with England,’ Klopp said before the game yesterday.
‘It was serious enough to be not involved today and possibly the next two or three games.
‘We don’t know exactly in the moment but that was the only problem we had.’
Liverpool welcome Sunderland to Anfield next Saturday in the Premier League before Leeds United arrive for an EFL Cup clash the following Tuesday.
Lallana could be back by the time Liverpool travel to Bournemouth on December 4.
The result at St Mary’s kept Liverpool at the top of the table, but they were knocked off their perch by Chelsea who won 1-0 at Middlesbrough on Sunday.
