Gareth Bale is set to miss Real Madrid’s clash with Barcelona on December 3 with an ankle injury.
The Wales international was forced off in the second half of Tuesday’s victory over Sporting in the Champions League and has undergone tests to find out the extent of the injury.
Madrid have confirmed that Bale has suffered tendon damage in his right ankle, which means that the forward is now highly unlikely to recover in time for El Clasico in 10 days time.
A statement from Madrid read: ‘After tests carried out on our player Gareth Bale at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a traumatic dislocation of the peroneal tendons of his right ankle.
‘His recovery will continue to be assessed.’
