Hugo Lloris believes Saturday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea has come at the perfect time for Tottenham Hotspur.
The France international would not hide his disappointment at Spurs’ Champions League exit after a poor performance saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Monaco.
The result ensured Mauricio Pochettino’s side were eliminated with a game left to play and there was an inevitable feeling of sadness around the club.
But Lloris is convinced the Chelsea game can be the ideal tonic for the club to bounce back and a good performance can help them forget their Champions League woes.
‘Our fans, our club and most of all our players had a lot of expectations in this competition,’ he said.
‘We fought a lot last season to get this Champions League place. We’re very disappointed, very frustrated with the way we played.
‘It’s a big disappointment but we need to keep our chins up because it’s a big game on Saturday.
‘I said the same after we lost against Leverkusen at Wembley, this is the best type of game to bounce back.
‘The only thing is to digest the frustration of this defeat and look forward.’
It will be a tough game for Spurs against a Chelsea side who haven’t conceded a goal in their last six matches.
