The 8 Division of the Nigerian Army will be established in the state to enhance professionalism.

Buratai, who noted that the new division would strengthen the security in the zone, further appreciated the cordial relationship between the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sokoto and the locals.

The Chief of Army Staff was in Sokoto on a condolence visit over the death of the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki.

Speaking during his visit to the state governor, Hon Aminu waziri Tambuwal, Buratai lauded the security situation in Sokoto, urging the government to sustain the tempo.

The COAS noted that Dasuki was a true nationalist who had contributed immensely to the development of the nation.

“His contributions will always be remembered. I pray Allah to forgive the deceased and grant him Jannatul Firdausi,” Buratai prayed.

Responding, governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stressed that, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership prowess of Chief of Army Staff, Yusuf Buratai had restored the once eroded lost glory of the Nigerian Army.

According to Tambuwal, the dignity and respect of the Nigerian Army dwindled due to negligence in the recent past.

Part of the restoration of their lost glory, according to Tambuwal, included their giant strides in restoring peace to parts of the country.

“The most visible impact made by the present leadership can be seen in the area of manpower development and provision of necessary equipment to the Army.

“The Army and other security agencies in the state are doing much to maintain peace and security. We will do our best to maintain it,” he said.

While insisting that the state remained the most peaceful in the federation, Tambuwal acknowledged the cordial working relationship between the 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, the State government as well as the people.

He further commended the effort of Nigerian Amy to establish command secondary schools in the state, saying government had already provided two secondary schools to Army for take-off of academic activities.
