Jungle Justice: Two robbers burnt to death by irate mob in Owerri

An irate mob in a spate of jungle justice, yesterday set ablaze two suspected armed robbers at Umuguma, in Owerri West council area of Imo State, for allegedly snatching a handbag from a lady.


Eyewitness recount said the alleged robbers had trailed their target along the Hospital Road, Umuguma, and later snatched her  handbag.

It was said that luck ran out on the suspects when their victim raised the alarm, and in their desperate bid to escape, the robbers tried to forcefully snatch a motorcycle from a rider, who resisted them.

The suspects shot him dead and then fled, but the other motorcyclists who had succeeded in apprehending the robbers after a hot chase, killed and set them ablaze.

Police spokesman, DSP Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident.

    @ David, what do you have to say about the innocent okada rider who resisted his okada being taken,and was killed by the thieves.

Good question Odus, he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. with no regards for life they killed an innocent man that was working to fend for his family thereby putting his family in sorrow. They deserve what they got, not that i support jungle justice but what they did was pure wickedness.


  4. David, just pray that you do not experience this close to any loved one.
    Those with the experience have had sorry stories to tell as the okada man’s family have now.
