Amelia and Emeka were in Jamaica for their vacation, she went all out to give them the best vacation, and she leased a house in Montego Bay where they would stay for the duration of their vacation. After arriving Jamaica, Amelia quickly changed into a swimming bra and pant, with a sarong over it.
Amelia: “Change up honey, we are going to the beach” she said with enthusiasm as she lathered sunscreen all over her body. Emeka went ahead and changed into beach shorts with a polo top , and animal skin sandals, together they went to the beach. Emeka sat under a shade thinking, trying to pierce his memories together when Amelia went to get drinks. The more he tried, the more his head ached.
Emeka: “Tell me about my parents, where are they?” he asked immediately Amelia came with the drinks.
Amelia: “You are an orphan, just like me, we belong together. It is so hard for you to get back your memories, I see your pains, just let go baby, let us make new memories together” she said and began to kiss him. After a while, he began to respond, he kissed her back and was going to caress her but Amelia stopped him.
“Come on baby, let us enjoy our day at the beach, let me give you a lap dance” she stood astride him and began to lap dance , as the song from the beach bar blared Rihanna’s “work, work, work, work, work, work”. Emeka smiled and for the first time, since he was at the hospital, he was happy. He stood up and joined her as they both rocked each other.
Amelia: “I love you Bernard” she said her eyes dim and smoky
Emeka: “help me feel again, you are my fiancée, I must have really loved you, make me feel you again” he replied and began to kiss her passionately.
Prior to the day of the court hearing, Yvonne paid a visit to Emeka’s lawyer in his private residence.
Emeka’s lawyer: “ To what do I owe this visit?”
Yvonne: “ There is money involved, the deceased father has agreed to share the inheritance with you by an agreed percentage, if you turn this case, say you found two documents ad you cannot tell which is real or fake ,so that our ground on non-consummation would work and the inheritance taken from her”
Emeka’s lawyer: “She was your best friend, what happened, why are you fighting her, I have seen her work ,she is just like Mr Udo, same fire in their eyes, she is the best for the job”
Yvonne: “what did she pay you, I can triple it.”
Emeka’s lawyer: “Alright, after the case, I want my share. We will turn the case upside down and take away the inheritance” he concluded and shook hands with Yvonne.
It was the first day of the court hearing for the case of Obianuju vs Mazi Udo and family. Obianuju decided to use Emeka’s lawyer since they were on the same side. She dressed up in a black pair of palazzo pants and a black satin shirt; she topped it off with a black trench coat, and covered her eyes with dark shades. She looked mysterious as she walked up the stairs to the courthouse, flanked by Emeka’s lawyer and Charles; she walked stoically, not giving mind to the camera flashes or the press men and women. Soon after she arrived, Yvonne arrived, wearing a silver trouser suit, she flashed smiles at the camera, and gave answers to questions while walking up the stairs of the courthouse, she was flanked by Mazi Udo and Emeka’s uncle.
Reporter: “You were once best friends with Ms Udo, but today you are fighting against her in court, how did it get to this”
Yvonne: “I am just doing my job here, Mr Udo approached me because I was a close friend of Emeka, the deceased wife is trying to swindle the family from their rightful possessions, and I agreed to represent them, so it is nothing personal”
Reporter: “What do you hope to get from this case?”
Yvonne: “Justice is paramount. Obianuju ‘s marriage is null and void, they had a church wedding that was not consummated”
The pressmen and women shoved their microphones into her face so as to capture every word.
Inside the court room, each of the party presented their case, Yvonne, without defenestrated her ex best friend to the amazement of the latter.
Yvonne: “Ms Udo has no legal documents supporting her marriage, they were married in church, but the marriage was never consummated. Ms Udo would like to argue that it was, but the other party, Mr Udo is not here to tell us, if it was ever consummated, seeing as there was no conception. On that ground, she has no legal right to his properties, My Lord” she said and bowed out.
“ My Lord, why argue this case on the grounds of consummation, even if there was no consummation as my learned colleague said ,it still does not change the fact that the deceased, in his will left all he had to Obianuju Udo , the last will and testament must be upheld ”he said and bowed out. He turned and winked at Yvonne whose mouth was wide open, surprise etched on her face, she could not believe that the lawyer had turned on them; she thought this was a done deal, and she would finally get her revenge on Obianuju.
Yvonne: “My Lord, that will is fake!” she yelled, and kept looking at Emeka’s lawyer, the latter just kept up his smirk.
Judge: “No yelling in my court room, there was time for each party to gather their evidences, you knew about the will, but you did nothing other than wait to scream down my ears. This is my judgment; the last will and testament of the deceased MrEmeka Udo will be upheld to the latter. Court dismissed”
Yvonne: “We will appeal”
Judge: “Yes you can do that, but you will not get a different judgment” the judge replied and left.
All the while, Obianuju just sat and watched, then she stood up and walked to Yvonne, who was talking to Emeka’s father and did not see coming.
Obianuju: “Yvonne…” she called and when her ex best friend turned, she smacked her hard across the face. Yvonne tried to retaliate but Obianuju grabbed her hand and held it firmly while she gave her a piece of her mind.
Obianuju: “I have been keeping quiet hoping that what we shared will overcome your anger over Ulysses, but I have waited a long time to no avail. Who told you that, you could desecrate the memories of my late husband, seriously? Non consummation of marriage is all you could come up with, the money spent on law school is wasted if you ask me. I do not want you to hear give thoughts on my family business, stop poking your nose where it doesn’t belong. Besides, I thought you were a feminist, where allow a man’s decision turn you into something you are not” Yvonne removed her hand from Obianuju’s hold and went away, the press men and women running after her with their microphones. She turned to her in-laws, who were looking distraught.
Obianuju: “Let us not fight anymore, Emeka is dead, I am sure if he knew that you would look for him someday, he would have included you in the will. Lets meet with his lawyer and find a way. We cannot divide the majority shares, if we do, MrBindalo will become the majority share holder, but I can give you a stipulated salary every month, every other assets can be divided”
Emeka’s lawyer: “It is a good move, a move for peace. Mr Udo, I will advice you take it and let this case rest. You will not get any better”.
Mazi Udo: “I will take it, just until Ohamiri strikes you dead” he said and walked away angrily with his kinsmen.
In Jamaica, Emeka and Amelia were having so much fun, they had been there for three months, and Emeka was beginning to feel alive again. He already saw he was good with programming and information technology, so Amelia had promised they would fund an information technology together.
Amelia: “I have an idea; there is an information technology where a friend of mine has shares, he has been complaining about the company being in the hands of a woman, we can buy his shares and that of some other board members, so that we become the majority share holder”
Emeka: “Hmmmm, I will think about it”
Amelia: “Immediately we get to Nigeria, I will get the wheels rolling” she said and kissed him.
Emeka: “You are the best… “
Amelia: “I am, wait till I give you this news. I am 3 weeks pregnant”! She exclaimed.
Emeka: “Oh my God, you are pregnant. I do not want my first child to be born out of wedlock; we should start our marriage plans. Pick a date”
Amelia: “In three months, I want the perfect wedding” she replied gaily.
Question: What will Amelia do when she finds out that Obianuju is the real wife of her Bernard, will her wedding pull through? Will Annette ever grow a conscience and speak out? Find out in the coming episodes.
