Tragedy in Lagos as Two Storey Building Under construction collapses (Photos)

A building under construction in the Ikeja area of the commercial city of Lagos, has collapsed as rescue operations by government authorities are currently ongoing.

According to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command who posted the photos on social media, an uncompleted two-storey building in Makinde Street, Ikeja Area of the state has just collapsed.

RRS operatives, officials of Lagos State Building Control Agency and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency are already on ground to ensure the rescue of people who may be trapped under the rubbles and forestall any further escalation of the current situation.

As at the time of compiling this report, rescue operations was already in progress at the site of the uncompleted two storey building.



  1. Everybody should reflect on what is happening to us. The trouble emanated from our schools. We are training engineers in our institutions that has next to nothing in terms of facility and qualify personnel. The focus of our youth is certificate not skills, what do you expect, building collapse. I want to strongly warn our the federal and state government to stop given road contracts to Nigerian trained engineers especially road that requires bridge. They should not allow Nigerian trained engineers to take up contract of storey buildings, if it is bungalow it may be ok.
