Marco Materazzi brutaly trolls Zinedine Zidane over infamous World Cup head-butt

Former Italy international Marco Materazzi has taken in memory if Zinedine Zidane’s infamous World Cup final head-butt.

Materazzi was head-butted by Zidane during the 2006 World Cup final in Berlin in extra time of a match France went on to lose 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in which both men scored.

Zidane had been provoked by Materazzi, and the Italian revealed earlier this year what he had actually said in order to provoke such a reaction: ‘What I said was stupid,’ Materazzi told L’Equipe, ‘but it didn’t deserve that reaction.’

‘You would hear stronger words said on the streets of Naples, or Milan, or Paris, much more serious things.’

Many people claimed that Materazzi intentionally hurled abuse towards Zidane regarding the Frenchman’s mother who was in hospital at the time – a claim Materazzi denied.

‘My mother died when I was 15, I would never have insulted his,’ he said.

‘I spoke about his sister.’

And now, over ten years since the incident, Materazzi took to social media to display his shrine in which he depicts Zidane as a chicken.
