We have rules in fashion and style, but literally, everything and anything goes. My rule is, if it makes me feel beautiful, then it is good. However, we want to bring out our inner goddesses, look like a rock star or a celebrity. The first step to achieving this is; determining your body type and embracing it. When I say body type, I am not talking about height or weight, but shape. A slim lady can have the same body type with a fat lady, just as a shorter woman can have same body type as her taller counterpart. Shape makes the difference, the moment you know your body shape, you can begin to dress, not to look thin, but to accentuate the finer points of your body and look your very best.

The types of body types include:

Pear body shape

Celebrities with this body type include Kim Kardashian and Eva Mendes. This body type has a wider lower body than the upper body, your bottom is round and your waist is well defined. You should wear clothes with sweetheart and plunging necklines, this accentuates your shoulders and waist which are your best features.


Also wear A-line skirts, experiment with light colored tops and darker bottoms. Also wear strapless dresses to show off your toned arms. Bomber jackets that stop just above your waistline are ideal for this body type because it shows off your defined waist.

Wedge body type

Celebrities who have this type of body are Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, among many others. If you have this body type, your chest is broad, with wide shoulders, narrow hips and waist. Your best asset is your legs. To look your best, wear clothes, that accentuate your lower body, and softens your shoulders and upper body.


Wear strapless clothes and statement necklaces to draw attention upward. If you have got great legs, wear shorter clothes, with sleeves, so that you can show off your legs, and at the same time, not flash too much skin. Wear high waist styles to create the illusion of a waist. Shape wears are a must for this body type, it gives a great silhouette.

Rectangular body shape

Rectangular shaped celebrities include Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson. If you have this body type, your hips, waist and shoulders have similar wideness. Your arms and legs are your best features. Your goal in dressing is to create the curves that you don’t have. Wear sweetheart necklines, it adds some curves.


Also wear pencil skirts with side slits to show off your great legs. Long jackets create a lean look, so invest in them. Tops with ruffles, and collar gives you the appearance of a fuller cleavage, do not forget to buy good bra to make the little you have, look good and full.

 Apple body type

Queen Latifah, Eva Longoria and some other celebrities have this body shape. Most of the weight is above the hips, which are narrow. Your legs are your best features and your goal is to elongate the torso and show off your great legs. With this body shape, it is important to elongate your figure with V-necks, empire waistlines and A-line dresses.


To draw attention from your mid section, wear layered clothes and structured jackets with a dress. Belts should be worn at the smallest part of your waist. Show off your legs with shorter dresses, to draw attention away from your mid section.

The Hourglass Shape

Every woman aspires to this body type because, it is curvier. Celebrities with this body type include Beyonce and Scarlett Johansson. Your shoulders and hips are similar in proportion, which sets off a tiny waist. Your assets are your curves.


With this body type, it is curves curves curves. Show off your curves with fitted dresses, skinny jeans and thin fabrics. Wear wrap dresses because they show off your curves, and do not baggy clothes or clothes that do not fit, because they hide your curve. Nevertheless, avoid jersey fabrics as they tend to hug both the good curves and the wrinkles and blemishes.
