Ronaldinho has revealed Chelsea tried to bring him to the Premier League, although he insists he has no regrets about not making the move.
The Barcelona and Brazil legend once came agonisingly close to signing for Manchester United, while other prospective moves to Stoke, QPR and Blackburn were reported later on his career.
But no move ever materialised for the 2002 World Cup winner, who enjoyed a glittering career with Barcelona.
The 36-year-old won two La Liga titles and the Champions League with the Catalan giants, as well as the Ballon d’Or, while also winning Serie A with AC Milan.
And while he does not regret not moving to the Premier League, he admitted that he would’ve had fun had he opted to move to Stamford Bridge.
‘I don’t regret not having played in England, but it could have been special because it’s a fantastic league,’ he told FourFourTwo.
‘Chelsea tried to take me there once, and some other teams were interested in signing me too.
‘The league there is so fast and intense all of the time – it’s great to watch and not boring at all.
‘I don’t tend to watch all 90 minutes of Premier League games, but I will see more of the highlights and the goals in the Premier League than other leagues around the world.’
