Buhari has a right to his vacation, Presidency

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, has said that the president will not speak to Nigerians as he has a right to his vacation.

The president’s extended vacation in the UK has caused a stir in the country with many speculating about his state of health.

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, were the latest people to visit the resident in UK although many have urged him to speak with Nigerians to dispel rumour about his state of health.

Adesina, who appeared on a show on TVC, on Thursday, said the president has a right to his vacation and there was no need to intrude.

On the issue of the president’s health, he said: “It is a matter of opinion and that those who say are welcome to their opinion as there are some people who don’t want to believe the word of other people and no matter what you say or do you have not done it well hence you leave them to their opinion.”

“If Buhari will speak to Nigerians it will be his choice, his prerogative. We don’t need to intrude. What some people want to do is to ram it down his throat willy-nilly. It is a point of principle that Buhari is not speaking to Nigerians.”

  1. That’s why we are 4th world and remain backwards. Buharis a public servant. He is disrespectful to the public by his actions. Not everyone can go to London to pay homage. Nigerians have the rights to know what is going on with their President. The President should treat the Nigerian people with some dignity. Because we’re good people, we wish him well.

  2. Ed you are always posting the most arkward statement on this platform, I pity your sense of judgement. Just like what Donald Trump told the American people about Hillary Clinton about her bad judgement, so Mr. Ed you have a very bad judgement.

  3. @ Cabal, On the contrary, I agree with Ed absolutely. The President said he was going to UK for vacation and for Medical check-up. He appropriately informed the National assembly as requested by the constitution. Furthermore, he properly transmitted power to the Vice president to become Acting President. He’s not holding anybody to ransom in his absence. When he cldn’t return as scheduled, he again transmitted another letter, revealing that he was undergoing medical surveillance, and he would love to stay back until this is sorted out. This letter is public knowledge; you will agree with me there is nothing hidden about it. What exactly do you demand from the President? For your information, Public servant or not, everybody is entitled to Medical Confidentiality under Information Governance. May I remind you that all Civil Servants are public servants, and nobody, not even a court of law can compel you to disclose your medical records, unless it will constitute a threat to public health, such as cases of communicable diseases, or mental impairment, under which circumstances this act can be suspended.
