Chelsea are reportedly ready to join Manchester United in the chase to seal the transfer of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann this summer.
The France international has been in sensational form in La Liga again this season, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most feared attacking players.
And despite the presence of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard up front, Antonio Conte wants to revamp his strike force with a move for Griezmann ahead of next season.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are prepared to give the Italian whatever funds it takes to beat United to the 26-year-old’s signature as part of a major shake up at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea look dead certs to win the Premier League at the moment, but Conte is aware that he’ll need more depth in his squad next season.
Griezmann is apparently a big part of the former Juventus boss’ plans, and the club are said to have handed their manager a ‘blank cheque’ to improve on his current crop of players.
Reports yesterday claimed United were in the lead in the race for Griezmann, but it’s now claimed that Chelsea will match their rivals in any bidding war for this world class talent in what will likely be one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer.
