German government donates three vehicles to Nigeria Police

It was gathered that the German government yesterday donated three Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Police.

Receiving the vehicles, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris lauded the German ambassador for his efforts in developing the capacity of the police and sought more support to be able to effectively police Nigeria.

He said that German government has been supporting the police in the past two years to create a conducive training environment in police institutions.

The IGP added that the vehicles are targeted at police training institutions to enable the force effectively develop its personnel.

The IGP, therefore, called on other foreign partners, and agencies to emulate the German government and also support the police with the needed equipment to effectively police the length and breadth of the nation.

The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Bernhard Schlagheck, in his remarks, commended the efforts of the police in developing the capacity of its personnel.

He disclosed that the German government has made it a priority to support the capacity building drive of the force as exemplified in its provision of equipment to police training schools.

He added that the German government and Nigeria police have established a working relationship a year ago and has decided to donate vehicles to police training schools to boost their activities.
