Ministry of Special Education, Science and Technology in Nasarawa state is said to be ready to conduct census of all people living with disability in the state.
The state Commissioner of Special Education, Science and Technology Professor Jonathan Ayuba, told newsmen in Lafia yesterday that the census would help the government in its planning.
He said the government had done many things which included paying fees, employment opportunities, and training in different skills to better the living condition of this group.
The government last week had paid over N4 million as school fees, JAMB registration and NECO/WASSCE for disabled indigenes of the state schooling in other states. The government has also given employment to 14 persons living with disability as teaching and non-teaching staff in Dunama Secondary School Lafia,” he added.
He announced that the state government had procured all the equipment needed for the establishment of the Institute of Technology for persons living with disability in Lafia.
